What Does Armed Forces Housing Advocates Do?

Fight for military families, every day.
Our founders and directors work tirelessly with an incredible Armed Forces Housing Advocates team. AFHA aims to end the substandard housing conditions that our military families are exposed to. AFHA was founded to protect all current and future military families from MHPI companies that care about profits over people. We strive to provide comprehensive, free-of-cost services that empower residents to learn about MHPI and how to navigate the MHPI system, ensuring their homes are safe and habitable.

Our Story

In 2018, our founders began individually advocating for their neighbors and friends in MHPI housing. They watched as their friends felt helpless while living in substandard conditions and took it upon themselves to get educated about the MHPI program. They stepped in to help when they could. Unfortunately, our founders eventually ended up having their own dismal experiences in their MHPI homes, and they decided they could no longer stand for it.
Banding together in four states across the U.S., and with "Mama Bear" tenacity, our founders created a fully remote nonprofit entirely staffed by amazing volunteers that have served over 1,000 families since May 2021. With a commitment to serve only at the pleasure of MHPI residents, our founders promised to offer education, support, and protection to military families across the country. Since AFHA's establishment, our team has expanded to include subject-matter experts in various topics, multiple volunteers focusing on resident casework, and a stellar board of officers. AFHA's team knows that, undoubtedly, readiness starts with a safe home.
